A lifetime of pursuits outside the boardroom. Cards, combat, and chords.

It's a People Game Played with Cards

A poker book for players who understand that the cards do not win pots — people do.

After five decades of cards — from family Briscola at age eight, through bridge clubs, five-card draw in school halls, the Moneymaker boom, and cash games across four continents — I wrote the book I wished I'd had when I started.

Most poker books teach you what to do with your cards. This one teaches you what to do with the people holding the other cards. Twenty chapters covering the mathematics, position, starting hands, bluffing, tells, table image, emotional warfare, deception, and the complete decision framework — all built on one premise: master the people, and the cards take care of themselves.

Primarily written for the intermediate-to-advanced Hold'em player, the principles apply across all forms of poker — because the cards change but human nature doesn't.

Shorinji Kempo

5th Dan Black Belt in Shorinji Kempo — the Japanese martial art founded by Doshin So in 1947. A system that develops the body and mind in equal measure, built on the philosophy that “half for your own happiness, and half for the happiness of others.”

More than 40 years of continuous training. Shorinji Kempo combines hard techniques (strikes, kicks, blocks) with soft techniques (throws, locks, pins) and incorporates pressure-point manipulation, joint reversals, and the study of meridian lines. it is as much a philosophical discipline as a physical one — training both the practitioner and the person.

The dojo is where I learned that progress is non-linear, that mastery is a moving target, and that the only opponent worth measuring yourself against is who you were yesterday.

Guitarist & Songwriter

Playing guitar for more than 40 years. The early years were about songwriting — crafting lyrics, structures, the deliberate architecture of a song. But over time, the focus shifted toward something more immediate: spontaneous composition — creating the song in the moment you're playing it.

Every performance becomes a blank page. Introductions emerge from the first chord. Verses form around a rhythm. Choruses arrive when the progression demands them. Instrumental passages, groove shifts, dynamic changes — all composed in real time, never played the same way twice. The guitar becomes a language, and each session is a conversation with no script.

Ten original tracks exist as recorded moments — each one a snapshot of a particular improvisation at a particular time, not a polished production. The goal is not perfection. It's presence. If the listener can feel the moment it was made, the recording did its job.
